Holiday Hunger Program

Welcome to our new page, here we will be sharing lots of ideas to keep your family safe, fed and entertained when we take a break from education  during the school holiday times.

For the last two years we have been working hard behind the scenes to provide families that may need an extra hand with food boxes, activity packs, face to face sessions and online materials.

Lots of people in our community make this possible but the main team are:

Safeguarding, Pastoral and Inclusion Lead- Cory Taylor

Cheshire Food Hub- Jo Garner

Cheshire West and Chester Locality Manager- Sharon Marshall

Weaver Vale Housing Trust- Gemma Massey

Library Service- Helen Neal

Starting Well Service- Faith Cobley

We all meet every month to discuss what we can offer, how we can get funding and ask other community projects to help us deliver the packages.

Year one was the best year ever as we could provide a space at school where all members of the comunity could come to do activities like yoga, forest school, arts, and many more... We especially enjoyed some home cooked food from our Bev Bates (Edsential) in the kitchen. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 we had to get our virtual caps on and tailor this to food deliveries and online content. We hope face to face sessions will be up and running again in summer 2021!

Initially this holiday hunger programme was only to help over the summer months, throught the DFE/Edsential grant which targeted families entitled to free school meals. Every term we seem to grow and this year we are aiming to support every holiday period using new funding sources to reach all families that may need an extra hand. Most exciting of all is that this year Cheshire Food Hub have asked us to create the programme of activities which could be rolled out across the whole of Cheshire West and Chester. You can see all the projects running here:

Delivery heros- The Rotary Club (special shout out to Kevin Fairbanks), Open Hands and all the devoted staff at school. These organisations have given up time and supported on a voluntary basis.

Stay safe and take care,
